Wii U Case Mods
I installed a Talismoon clear case on my Wii. Called something stupid like Stealth Assasin. It looks great, but it really was a pain to install. Bear im mind that I have re-cased every single console I've owned since the PSX. except my 360 (because I really don't want to void the warranty on something that flakey) and the Wii was far and away the most tricky one.

This cannot be the same external hard drive you use for Wii U games. If you are using an external HDD that does not have its own power source, then you will need a Y-cable. Ensure any.wad files (channels, forwarders, games, etc) you install are formatted to work properly with vWii first.
More screws and fiddly stuff than any other console I've done! I actually got half way and wished I'd never started the whole thing. But by then I'd reached the pont of not return, and it was just as easy to push through to completion than it was to go back to the white case. But it does look great.
so this means I've re-cased my PSX, my Dreamcast, my PS2, my X-Box (although shortly afterwards they bought out a clear XBox anyway which annoyed me), my GC and now the Wii. People think you're weird for doing that (and they have a point) but they like to look a them all the same. Click to expand. If you want a shiny piano black you need the Katana case as the XCM is matt black. The XCM and Katana are both good. Personally have only used XCM and none of the Wiis have had a problem (changed 4 cases).Have a look on google. Many suppliers of both cases. Also Divineo.co.uk (but will cost a bit more than ebay). Neither XCM or Katana do matching shells for the remote and nunchuck AFAIK, though I have seem some other aftermarket companies do them.Found a company that do full replacement cases for remote and nunchuck called CHUCKII.

Google 'CHUCKII SET'. Thanks for the advice nick.I bought a katana and it arrived yesterday. Was really impressed with the quality of instructions, inclusion of three different coloured dvd-drive lights (red, blue, green) and the fact they gave you all the screwdrivers, stickers and feet to do it all.It wasn't a job for the faint-hearted though. I've replaced cases/modded a few consoles in the past but the wii was without a doubt the hardest to do. Thank god for dissasembly videos on youtube!Putting it all back together I found myself with 3 screws left overIt looks absolutely class though next to the ps3!Next stop: trying to find piano black wiimote/nunchuck shells - can't see them anywhere! I bought mine from Whitedog GamesWhich was basically one of the first places I found on google. Not the cheapest, but the service was excellent (recieved the day after it came in stock and the guy I emailed was really helpful). It took me just under 3 hours to do, mainly becuase I was watching telly/having my tea at the same time (there could well be some pizza stuck inside it now ).Like I said before there's plenty of videos on youtube that were very helpful, and the instructions are spot on. Taking it apart is a piece of cake, it's putting it all back together that's the hard part (I thought of it as being a £200 jigsaw puzzle)Overall it looks the business and i'm not complaining at all. The red glow from the light I fitted is superb!Just be careful with the screws, I think there are 9/10 different types!
My black evolve case arrived Sat, tried to do yesterday pm but didn't even get past the first ruddy stage. The first four screws that need to come off are tri-wing screws and could not get these off by using the screwdriver supplied in the pack that came with the case, on closer inspection of this screwdriver, its uneven at the end hence won't engage the screwhead properly. So decided to hold off until the screwdriver I've ordered from the gametrain comes in, hopefully tomorrow, and have another crack at it then. I had a disaster of a time fitting mine back together in the end and I got into a really bad mess.Like MajorZero I had a few spare screws at the end which was a little worrying. Taking it apart was easy.but.keep an eye on the different sizes of screws and where they come from, this is no easy task as you have to completely dissasemble it, and get the seperate sections (and screws together.which I did not do well)Another annoying thing, the black eject button I got in the pack was too short (or too long, cant remember) so I had to revert back to the original white button. This doesnt sound a big deal but it drives me mad!

I wish I could get just a new black eject button lol!So my advice.Really think if you can do it yourself. As others have said, it is one of the hardest consoles to do.I would not recommend this if you are a beginner. 2nd bit of advice, the special screwdriver I got with mine, half way through, the threading started to misshape.that part was not fun!Other than that though, I much prefer the black, looks smart and would only recommend it if you have the patience of a saint!
Well, I did itThe tri wing screwdriver from the gravy train worked perfect. Took me over 2 hours to do, but I made sure I read up as much as I could beforehand so I was pretty much ready for it. I used the instructions from the gravy train as this was more precise than the instructions that came with the Katana, even when assembling the wii back, as the gravytrain shows putting an i-case together, the assembly of the katana is pretty much the same.Well chuffed with the end result, you just need a lot of patience and a great deal of organisation. Thanks to all with the advice.
