I can't seem to get my HOTMAIL account to change the way my name is shown. When I first signed up I put my first and last name. Now I just want my first name to go out.

My friends and I forward tons of stuff back and forth. Jokes, stories, etc. And I noticed that my whole name with my e-mail address gets passed on and on. For security purposes, I would like to change this if possible.I tried under OPTIONS to change under 'Personal Profile' and under the 'signature' categories. Nothing changed when I sent the request and clicked apply. Still both of my names show up.Seems like changing it under the personal profile should work???

I had never sent myself a message from my hotmail account to one of my others and really didn't know it was putting my whole name on the messages.I even changed my name to John Smith and it still shows my real name in the message header. I didn't use my hotmail but to receive a weather cast. OK, I'm using this acct. Every day and so it is NOT deactivated. And I have about 30 people on my address book and do not want to start up a new acct.I can't believe the amount of JUNK that I get send to that acct., so much spam that I have checked the filtering block and that allows only e-mail sent to me by friends that are in my address book.I am only sending e-mails through the hotmail acct., not OUTLOOK Express.

ACACandy, I have already done what you said in your last post. It changes it on the 'Profile page', but not on my e-mails. I sent an e-mail back to myself and it shows my whole name still. I have changed it before when My husband used that acct, (same e-mail address only in his name).

Now I switched it back to my name about a year ago and now I want to change it again, but it won't allow me. Deke: Sounds like were in the same boat.

I'm done trying to 'fix' this, especially since there is no way to fix it. Going to leave my name as is and just keep using the filter so that I don't get any more spam. So, if my name and e-mail address gets passed on and on and on, at least no one can forward anything back to me IF they aren't on my address list.
